Founded  in 1872 by  itinerate  Scottish workers, Furness Golf Club is   recorded   as   the    6th oldest    golf   Club   in England.   Established originally on nearby Biggar Bank, the Club moved  to  its  present  location in 1880. The 18 hole course comprises 6 outward  holes,  6 inward holes and the  final  6 holes  alternating in each direction. This layout coupled with a  varying sea  breeze provides  an  interesting  and  challenging test for all categories of golfer. Bounded  by  the  Irish  Sea  to the  West,  the course affords  beautiful  sea  views which   are  complimented   by the  equally stunning views  of  the South Lake District.
